HOT! HOT! HOT!

Spring has sprung and summer is quickly approaching. With some U.S. cities having already seen over 90-degree weather it has many people asking the question, “How hot will it get this summer?” The Children’s Mystery Book Challenge is asking you the same question with a little different spin. In correlation with the American Library Association’s National Library Week, the Children’s Mystery Book Challenge is kicking off our Mystery Meltdown Summer Reading Program.
We want you to have the hottest summer ever! However, we are not measuring in degrees, we are measuring in number of pages read!
Use the template of the thermometer below or create your own to track your reading. Then set a goal for yourself of how many pages you will read between now and August 1. Challenge yourself, but don’t make the goal impossible to reach.
Once you have your goal and your thermometer ready to go, get reading! Each page equals one degree. Books you check out of your local library count double! For suggestions of good books visit www.childrensmysterybooks.org and click on the Reading List tab for 100 great mysteries to pick from.
Make sure your library card is up to date, get cozy under a shady tree and have an awesome summer reading! You only have until August 1, 2011 so there is no time to lose. When August 1 rolls around visit www.childrensmysterybooks.org and go to the Contact Us tab and let us know how “hot” your summer was! The participant who reads the most pages will receive a spooktacular surprise and be featured on www.childrensmysterybooks.org as the Summertime Sleuth.
